How much does SEO cost in Ireland? Ask three agencies and you'll get three prices that are hard to compare, because each sells a different amount of work under the same name. Below are the monthly ranges an Irish agency publishes for 2026, what each price should buy, how VAT fits in and the warning signs in a proposal, so you can read any SEO quote with a clear head, ours included.
SEO prices in Ireland: what agencies charge per month
| What you buy | Typical monthly price | Usually suits |
|---|---|---|
| Local SEO | €300-€800/month | Service-area businesses in one town or county |
| SEO in competitive industries | €800-€2,000/month | Crowded markets, more content and links |
| National campaigns | €1,500-€5,000/month | Businesses selling across Ireland |
The figures come from Vimar's 2026 Irish pricing guide, which covers ongoing SEO alongside websites. It's an agency's own guide, and the only public source of Irish SEO prices we found: there's no independent survey for Ireland. Read them as a map of the Irish market rather than a quote: what moves a price within each band is below. If a quote is shown before VAT, add the standard 23% (Revenue) when comparing it with one that includes it.
How SEO is charged in Ireland
| Model | How it works | Good for | Ask for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly retainer | A fixed fee for ongoing work | Most local and small businesses | A list of what's done each month |
| Hourly or day rate | You pay for the time spent | Specific questions or small fixes | An estimate of hours first |
| Fixed project | One price for an agreed job (an audit, a migration) | A defined piece of work | The deliverables, written down |
| Pay on results | You pay per ranking or per enquiry | Rarely a good idea | What counts as a result, and who measures it |
What changes the cost of SEO for an Irish business
- Town, county or the whole country. A mechanic in Ennis and a solicitor competing across Dublin aren't in the same market.
- How many services and towns you cover. Each one usually needs its own page and its own work.
- The state of your website. A slow site with technical problems needs fixing before new pages pay off.
- Who writes the content. Text written for you costs more than tidying text you provide.
- Local extras. The Google profile, your Eircode and details on Golden Pages and other directories, and reviews.
What an SEO proposal should spell out
- The searches you'll target, grouped by what people want.
- The pages to create or improve, one by one.
- What happens to your Google Business Profile.
- The technical fixes, in order of what they cost you.
- How enquiries will be measured, in accounts in your name.
- What's done each month, and where you'll see it.
- The notice period to stop, and whether VAT is included.
Warning signs in an SEO price
- Guaranteed first place on Google. Nobody controls that.
- Hundreds of links for a small fee: Google's spam policies treat bought links as spam.
- A 12-month contract before you've seen any work.
- Monthly reports full of graphs that never say what was done.
- Accounts set up in the agency's name instead of yours.
Questions to ask an SEO company in Ireland
Google's own guide, Do you need an SEO?, lists questions worth asking any provider. The ones that matter most when comparing prices:
- Who will actually do the work, and will I deal with them directly?
- What would you change first on my site, and why?
- What will I see each month, and where?
- What's the notice period, and do I keep everything if I leave?
When SEO starts to pay
Nobody can give you an honest date in advance: it depends on your town, your competitors and the state of your site. A new page needs time for Google to find and trust it. What usually moves first for a local business is a complete Google profile and pages for services nobody nearby covers well. Our SEO price, explained
A monthly fee priced for your business, quoted before any work starts. It starts with a free audit: who comes up for your searches today, which pages you're missing and what we'd do first. If it suits you, we do the first round of work and you only pay the first invoice once it's live and checked. If you serve a local area, see local SEO too. Questions about SEO prices in Ireland
How much should a small Irish business spend on SEO each month?
Vimar's 2026 guide puts local SEO at €300-€800/month and competitive industries at €800-€2,000/month; national campaigns cost more. What matters is what the fee buys each month.
Do SEO prices in Ireland include VAT?
Often not: most agencies show prices before VAT and add 23% on the invoice. Ask, and compare quotes on the same basis. If your business is VAT-registered, the price before VAT is usually the one that matters.
Is local SEO cheaper than national SEO?
Usually, because you compete with businesses in your town or county instead of the whole country. It has its own tasks, though: the Google profile, reviews, your Eircode and details in directories, and a page for each town you serve.
Can I do SEO for my own business?
Much of it, yes: completing your Google profile, asking for reviews, writing a page for each service. What owners usually lack is time and a clear order of priorities, which an audit gives you even if you do the work yourself.
Why is SEO a monthly cost?
Because the work continues after the first round: new pages, your Google profile, reviews and fixes as Google and your competitors change. Each month you should see what was done. With us there's no minimum term: 30 days' notice to stop.
Is SEO dearer for an online shop?
Often, yes: a shop has categories, product pages and filters that can create thousands of near-identical pages. Our fee depends on how big the catalogue is; your proposal sets out which categories and products each month covers, before we start. More on ecommerce SEO.
Does SEO work out cheaper than paying Google for the same clicks?
That depends on what those clicks cost in your sector and how many you'd get by ranking. Our SEO ROI calculator works it out with your own searches: what ranking higher could bring in, and what the same visits would cost you in Google Ads.
