How much does SEO cost in the UK?
What UK SEO agencies and consultants charge per month, per hour and per project in 2026, with sources, what each price should include and the warning signs.
We're a two-person SEO agency for trades, clinics, solicitors and local shops. We rework your website and your Google listing so people searching nearby find you before the firm down the road. After that, each month: new or improved pages, your Business Profile kept current and a summary of the work on your tracking page.
Your Business Profile, your reviews and your website telling Google the same story, so you make the map when people search nearby.
We find what's holding your site back on Google, put it in order of what it costs you and fix it, with every change logged.
Category and product pages that come up when people search for what you sell, so your shop takes orders without paying for every click.
When someone types “loft conversion Bristol”, Google looks for the page that answers that best. If you have a page about loft conversions, with what's included, how long it takes and photos of finished jobs, you're in the running. If it's one line on a “Services” page, Google has nothing of yours to show.
So we start from the searches and leave the look of the site for later. We find how people search for you, decide which page answers each search and write it to rank and to persuade. If you serve a set area, we work on your local SEO and Business Profile alongside, because that's often what people see first.
Every main service gets its own page, and so do the towns that justify one. Someone searching for something specific lands right on it.
one page per search, so Google knows what each answers
As long as the page stays live and useful it keeps getting visits. No month depends on topping up a campaign.
Someone typing “emergency electrician Sheffield” isn't browsing. They want it sorted today and find your number on the first screen.
We run the real searches in your area on a phone and note who shows up and with which page. If you already have a site, we look at what brings you visits today, because that gets protected first.
We decide which pages you need and which search each one answers. That map goes into your plan, with the date the setup goes live, before you decide anything.
We ask you, in one message, for what only you know and draft every page. You approve it and follow every task on your private tracking page.
We tell Google about the new pages and you check them. Then the monthly fee starts, and each month we add pages, reviews and mentions, with every enquiry counted.
Paste your keywords and see the traffic, enquiries and revenue at stake, and what that traffic would cost in ads.

Your SEO is handled by Òscar and Carles, the same two people who go through your site and listing in the audit. Who we are

1 · What we found
Searching “loft conversion leeds” on a phone, you're on page two with your home page; there's no page about loft conversions.
2 · The plan, page by page
3 · Fixed quote
The missing pages, your Google Business Profile and the site fixes go live first. You check them, and only then does the first monthly invoice arrive.
Nobody outside Google controls rankings, so we don't sell them. We sell the work in your plan, and you can see each piece of it done.
How the monthly fee worksOurs is a monthly fee set for your business after the free audit, groundwork included, with no minimum term. The first invoice comes once the new pages, your Google listing and the site fixes are live and you've checked them. A new website, if you need one, is quoted separately and we tell you in the audit.
No. It's rolling monthly: give us 30 days' notice and the invoices stop. Everything done stays on your site and in your name (pages, copy, Business Profile and tracking accounts), so leaving costs you nothing you've already paid for.
Your quote shows the fee before VAT, and your invoice, in pounds, adds it on its own line. If your business is VAT-registered, your accountant can tell you how to reclaim it; if it isn't, the total with VAT is what you pay.
With ads you pay Google for every click and the visits stop when the budget does. SEO works on your website and listing so you appear in the unpaid results, which takes longer to build and keeps bringing visits without a cost per click. Many local firms use both at first.
Be wary of guarantees of position one, packages of hundreds of links, long contracts and reports full of graphs that never say what was done. Ask who will actually do the work, what they'd change first on your site and whether the accounts stay in your name.
It depends on your area, your rivals and the state of your site, so any date we gave you would be invented. Google needs time to read a new page and longer to trust it. In the audit we tell you what tends to move first for a business like yours.
SEO services put your website in front of people searching Google for what you do, without paying for each click. Ours is a monthly fee with no set-up fee and no minimum term, and the first invoice only comes once the new pages and fixes are live and you've checked them.
Google takes time to trust a new page: it has to find it, read it and see that people stay. That clock only starts once the page is live, and there's no paying to speed it up.
Meanwhile the businesses already at the top collect the visits, the jobs and the reviews that keep them there. To see where you stand today, ask for the free SEO audit.
A UK search for a trade or a clinic usually shows the map, then the big directories (Checkatrade, Yell, TrustATrader, MyBuilder) and only then the local firms. We can't move the directories, but we can make sure your name, address and phone read the same on them as on your site and your profile, because Google compares them.
Two details that change the plan here. Area pages are built around the places people type, which in the UK is usually the town or the district (“Headingley”, “Clifton”), not the postcode. And since UK law asks for consent before analytics cookies (ICO guidance on cookies), part of your visitors won't show up in analytics; we measure progress mainly with Search Console, which doesn't need cookies on your site.
Google crawls your site, stores the pages it finds useful and, when someone searches, ranks the ones that answer best. Search engine optimisation means helping it at each of those three moments, and it comes down to four things, often called the pillars of SEO. It's common for a site to get one or two right and forget the rest: great copy on a site that takes forever to load, or a lightning-fast site with three pages that answer nothing. If you suspect something's off under the hood, an SEO audit finds it and ranks it by what it costs you.
The riskiest moment is changing websites. If old addresses disappear without pointing anywhere, Google loses what it learned from them. That's why every redesign we do includes a website migration that keeps what already brings you visits: we keep the domain and every old address points to its new page.
Pages that load without errors, one address each and no forgotten setting that locks Google out.
technical: crawling, indexing and canonicals
One service, one page, written with the words people actually search for, which aren't always yours.
content and on-page SEO
Reviews, local directories, suppliers or local press mentioning you. Buying links breaks Google's spam policies.
authority: links and mentions
A site that loads fast on a phone, makes sense right away and has the call or text button at hand.
user experience and Core Web Vitals
In the UK you can hire SEO in three ways: a freelance consultant, a small agency or a large one with account managers. A consultant often leaves you a list of recommendations someone else has to carry out; an agency usually makes the changes too. How they work matters more than the label.
A freelancer gives you direct contact with whoever does the work, limited by one person's diary. We're two SEO specialists, Òscar Bordetas and Carles Encinas, and between us we cover searches, copy, website, Google listing and tracking, at a fee published on this site.
Whoever you choose, ask to see what they'd do for your business before you pay (we send that free in the audit), walk away from anyone guaranteeing position one and check the website, domain and Google accounts stay in your name. Google's own advice on hiring an SEO is worth five minutes.
A plumber in Stockport or an accountant in Reading doesn't need the SEO of a national retailer. You usually have a handful of services, a clear patch and rivals you could name. That works in your favour: a few well-built pages and a solid Business Profile leave plenty of ground to win.
Most of your customers search nearby, and for those searches Google shows a map with three businesses first. That's why website SEO and local SEO go together in almost every small business project. Online shops are a different job, covered in ecommerce SEO.
A monthly fee we quote after the free audit, because it depends on how many services and towns there are to work on and how strong the local competition is. It covers the groundwork (keyword research, the pages you're missing, your Business Profile and the fixes to your site) and then each month's work: new pages, reviews, local mentions and enquiry tracking. No set-up fee and no minimum term; you can stop with 30 days' notice.
The first invoice only comes once the groundwork is live and you've checked it. If you also need a new website, that's quoted separately and paid when it's finished. To compare quotes, read how much SEO costs in the UK; all our prices are on our pricing page.
The exact words people in your area use, grouped by what they want, and each group matched to the page that will serve it.
real searches with their volume: we know which pages pay off before writing them
With its own copy: what's included, who it's for, how long it takes and the questions you always get, with the contact button in plain sight.
its own URL, title and heading: Google doesn't have to guess
Title, headings, copy, photos and links to your other pages, planned so Google understands which search each page answers.
on-page SEO: title, H1 and H2, copy, image alt text and internal links
If you serve several towns, each area that deserves it gets a page with what's different there. Copying the same page and swapping the town name doesn't work.
unique content per area: Google ignores cloned pages
We hand-write the title and description that show up in each page's result, so people comparing pick yours.
title tags and meta descriptions, one by one
Google can read every page, each page has one address and it loads fast on a phone with a normal signal.
technical SEO: crawling, indexing, redirects and load speed
Trade directories, associations, suppliers and local press linking to you, one at a time and for a reason. No link packages.
off-page SEO: local link building, no bought links
Your services, FAQs and contact details written so Google reads them without guessing and AI assistants can pick them up too.
