How to rank higher on Google Maps in the UK
Claim and verify your Google Business Profile, choose the right category, earn reviews and line up your details on UK directories: what gets you on the map and up it.
Ranking on the map on your own takes time. Ads put your business at the top, marked as sponsored, as soon as the campaign is approved, and we count every call it brings.
We link your Business Profile to your Google Ads account and set up campaigns that can show you on the map and in local searches, with your rating, distance and buttons to call or get directions.
We keep the ads to your real service area and hours, so you don't pay for clicks you can't serve, and count every call. Meanwhile local SEO keeps building, so you rely less on ads over time.

Through Google Ads: you link your Business Profile as a location asset and run a campaign type that can serve on Maps, such as Search or Performance Max. Your ad then appears as a promoted pin or at the top of local results, and you pay per click.
Clicks are paid to Google from your account, with a daily cap you set; what a click costs depends on your trade and area. UK agencies charge £500-£1,500/month to manage a small budget, according to Whito. Ours depends on how many areas and services we advertise and goes in your proposal, with no set-up fee and no minimum term, and the first invoice comes once you've approved the ads.
Usually because the Business Profile isn't linked as a location asset, the campaign type doesn't serve on Maps, or the area and budget are too narrow. Google also decides when to show Maps ads, so they don't appear for every search.
No. Google doesn't offer Maps-only campaigns: the same campaign also shows in ordinary search. That's why we write the ads to work in both places and limit them by area and hours.
For some categories, yes, and they charge per lead rather than per click after Google checks the business. Availability depends on your trade and area; in the audit we tell you whether you qualify and whether they'd make sense alongside Maps ads.
Maps ads put your business at the top of the map and local results, labelled “Sponsored”, as a promoted pin or a listing above the rest. They run from Google Ads with your Business Profile linked, you pay per click, and we keep them to your area and hours.
For urgent local jobs (a locksmith, a boiler, a broken windscreen) people tap the first business they trust on the map. Ads put you there while your profile earns its place for free.
In the free audit we show you what the map looks like for your services today and whether ads make sense in your area.
There are several ways to advertise locally on Google in the UK. Maps and local search ads promote your business with your profile linked; call-focused ads put a phone button first; and for some UK categories (plumbers, electricians, cleaners and other home services), Local Services Ads show businesses that pass Google's checks and charge per lead instead of per click (Google's list of countries and categories). Which ones you can use depends on your trade and area, and we tell you in the audit.
Whichever you use, the radius matters more than people expect: a business in Croydon rarely wants clicks from Watford. We set the area by postcode district or radius and the hours by when someone actually answers the phone.
Google describes two main formats: promoted pins, square pins that stand out from the regular round ones, and ads at the top of search results inside Maps. To show there, your Google Ads account needs location assets, and the campaign has to be a type that serves on Maps: Search with location assets, Performance Max, Smart or Demand Gen (Google's help page on ads on Maps).
One detail surprises many owners: Google doesn't let you run ads only on Maps. The same campaign also shows in regular search, which is why we write the ads for both places.
