Three months of a learning center's Search Console overview: clicks grow and the two alerts that come in, a page with a 404 error and a URL that needed to load faster, are fixed the same day. Center and data are examples.

Your website breaks when you least expect it

This is what happens to sites nobody looks after.
  • An automatic update broke the contact form and nobody noticed for weeks.
  • WordPress and the plugins haven't been updated in a year, and you're afraid to click the button.
  • Google emails you about errors you don't understand.
  • There's no recent backup, and you're not sure who has the logins.

What changes when someone looks after your site

How we get there

We test updates on a copy before they reach your live site, keep backups off your server and try restoring them, check your forms after every change and watch for security issues and errors Google reports.

When something needs fixing, we fix it and tell you. You don't have to remember any of it.

  • Updates that don't break anything

Platform, theme and plugins updated on a copy first, with a backup before and a check after.

    staging site

  • Problems caught before customers do

Downtime, broken forms and Google's warnings watched, and fixed before they cost you leads.

    uptime and Search Console monitoring

  • Each month in a few lines

What we updated, what we fixed and anything you need to decide, on your tracking page.

How our website maintenance works

A tune-up once, then a monthly routine.
  1. Review

Platform, plugins, backups, security, logins and Search Console reviewed.

  2. Tune-up

Pending updates, broken pieces, old admin users and missing backups fixed first, before any monthly fee.

  3. Monthly routine

Tested updates, off-site backups, monitoring and a test message through your forms.

  4. Changes when you ask

You text or email us a change; we confirm what and when, and send the before and after once it's live.

We check whether your site needs urgent attention

From outside we can see outdated versions, broken forms, security warnings and Google errors. We tell you what we find and what to fix first.

How paying works

Questions about website maintenance

What owners ask when nobody's watching their site. If yours isn't here, put it in the audit form.

What does website maintenance include?

Updates tested before they go live, off-site backups, security monitoring, checks that your forms and call buttons work, Search Console errors fixed and small content changes. The exact scope, how often each task runs and our response times go in your proposal.

How much does website maintenance cost per month?

A maintenance plan typically runs $50-$200/month, according to Elementor's cost guide. Ours depends on how your site is built, how many plugins it has and how often you change it: a site with thirty plugins takes more work than one with five. We look at your site in the free audit and send a fixed monthly fee, with no long-term contract.

Do you host the website?

Your hosting stays in your name, so your site never depends on us. If your current host is fine, we work with it; if it's slowing the site down or you don't have one, your proposal says what we recommend and who you'd pay.

Do you maintain sites you didn't build?

Usually, yes, after a review. If the site is badly out of date or built with pieces nobody maintains anymore, we tell you whether it's worth a tune-up first or a rebuild.

What happens if my site gets hacked?

We restore it from the last clean backup, remove the problem and close the hole that let it in. How and how fast we respond in that case is set in your proposal.

Can I cancel website maintenance?

Yes. There's no long-term contract: you cancel with 30 days' notice. The site, the domain, the backups and every login are yours, and we hand everything over in order to whoever you choose.

Website maintenance is the ongoing care of a live website so it stays secure, fast and up to date: updates, backups, security monitoring, checks that your forms and call buttons work, and small content changes. The exact scope, and how fast we respond to each kind of request, goes in your proposal.

More detail: Website maintenance

An unmaintained site gets riskier every month

Outdated plugins are a common way into WordPress sites, and a broken form loses leads without making a sound. WordPress's own upgrade guide asks you to back up the files and the database, and to check the backup works, before updating (WordPress Developer Resources). The longer a site goes without updates, the harder that gets.

In the free audit we check the signs visible from outside and tell you whether your site needs urgent work.

WordPress maintenance: what a site built with plugins needs

WordPress has three layers that update separately (WordPress itself, the theme and each plugin), often from different authors, and they don't always get along. An abandoned plugin or a premium theme with an expired license stops getting security fixes even if the site keeps working.

The websites we build in web design are custom WordPress with only the plugins they need, so maintaining them is lighter. If your WordPress is so out of date that every fix breaks something else, we tell you, and sometimes a website redesign is what pays off.

Four things we look for when we take over a site someone else built:

  • “Update all”, on a Friday

Everything updated on the live site, with no backup and no test. If something clashes, the site is blank all weekend.

why we test on a copy first

  • Plugins stepping on each other

A security plugin, a cache plugin and a backup plugin each doing the same thing their own way, slowing or breaking the site.

  • Backups on the same server

If the server fails or the site gets infected, the backup goes with it. And a backup nobody has tried to restore can fail on the day you need it.

    off-site backups

  • Forgotten admin users

Logins from whoever built the site years ago, a former employee or a previous agency, all able to change anything.

    user review and two-factor login

What website maintenance costs, and what it depends on

Keeping a site running has several costs, and it helps to separate them because they're paid to different people. The domain, the hosting and any premium licenses stay in your name and you pay them directly; the maintenance is the work. Ours has no published price: it depends on how your site is built, how many plugins it has and how often you change it.

When you compare quotes, ask where the backups are stored and whether anyone has tried restoring one, whether updates are tested first, what counts as a small change and how many are included, what happens if the site goes down on a Sunday, and whose name the domain and hosting are in. What other providers charge, with sources, is in how much a website costs.

What's included, point by point

  • Updates tested first

Platform, theme and plugins updated on a copy, with a backup before and a check after.

    WordPress core, theme and plugins

  • Backups you can actually restore

Stored off your server and test-restored, so they work the day you need them.

    off-site backups

  • Security watched

Monitoring, hardening, old admin users removed and cleanup if something gets in.

SSL, firewall, malware scans and two-factor login

  • Forms and buttons that work

Test messages through your forms and checks on your call and text buttons.

  • Google's warnings handled

Errors and warnings in Search Console checked and fixed.

indexing, Core Web Vitals and HTTPS

  • Small changes

Hours, photos, prices and copy updated when you ask, as set in your proposal.

When website maintenance is worth it, and when it isn't

Worth it if

  • Your site works, but nobody checks it and you don't know if there are backups.
  • Whoever built it isn't around anymore, and you need someone to take over.
  • Your WordPress shows update warnings you're afraid to touch.
  • You change hours, photos or services often and would rather send a text.

Not a fit if

  • Your site needs rebuilding: maintaining what doesn't work drags the problem out.
  • You want someone to write blog posts or run your social media each week, which are other services.
  • You need someone on call at any hour for urgent changes.
