How to get your business on ChatGPT when customers ask
What ChatGPT reads before it names a business, the seven steps you control, what to skip, and how to check whether it mentions you.
When your customers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI Mode which business to pick, we work so yours comes up, described the way it really is, with no long-term contract.
Several Denver firms work with self-employed people: bookkeeping, quarterly estimated taxes and annual returns, plus setup with the IRS and the state.
Several Denver firms work with self-employed people: bookkeeping, quarterly estimated taxes and annual returns, plus setup with the IRS and the state.
AI assistants answer with what they learned in training and with what they look up when you ask: your website, your Google Business Profile, your reviews, the directories in your field and articles that mention you. The first part can't be changed. The second can, and that's where we work.
Plenty of tools will tell you what AI says about you, and Google and Bing already give you some of that data for free. What an agency adds is the next step: changing what those answers find about you until they name you with the right facts, and showing you each month what moved.
Each service explained the way you'd tell a customer at the counter: what's included, what it costs, who it's for and where you work, in the first lines.
citable content: direct answers, sourced facts and buying questions
Your name, address, phone, hours and services match on your site, your Google profile, Bing and every directory you're listed in. When each source says something different, the AI doesn't know which to trust.
your brand recognized as one entity
Reviews, industry directories, best-of lists and local press that mention your business. That's what these tools read before they trust a name.
off-site mentions and reviews
Between 50 and 100 real buying questions for your trade and your area, run in ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, and Perplexity. We record who comes up, who gets cited and what's said about you.
Pages that answer in the first lines, prices and buying questions in plain view, your details in the format machines read, and the door open to the crawlers that help you.
Your Google Business Profile, Bing Places and the directories and review sites in your field, all with the same name and details. Plus the lists and local press where it makes sense to appear.
The same questions every week. Every month, a report on how often you come up, who cites you and in what tone, against your competitors, with the next steps.

1 · What we found
Asked for a wedding photographer in Denver, ChatGPT names three studios. Yours isn't one, and your site never says where you shoot.

The pages that answer your customers' questions, your Business Profile and your details on other sites are updated before we bill you anything. The first monthly payment, at the price in your proposal, comes once you've checked them. After that, each month: new customer questions answered on your site, your details checked on other sites and a report on how often you're mentioned and how.
We can't promise that an AI tool will mention you, because each one decides what it cites. We promise the work in your proposal, and you see every task done.
How paying worksSEO aims to get your page shown in Google's list of results; GEO aims to get your business cited inside an AI answer. They share the same foundations, and Google says as much about its AI features. GEO puts extra weight on answering in the first lines, keeping your details consistent across the web and checking what AI tools actually say.
There's a lot of hype around it, mostly in the promises. What we do can be checked: the same questions before and after, the pages we changed, the details we fixed on other sites and the visits that come from these tools. If something doesn't move, you'll see that in the report too.
We set a fixed monthly price in your proposal after the audit, because it depends on how many questions need tracking, your services and areas, and how much needs fixing. It covers the starting audit, the fixes, weekly tracking and the monthly report, with no setup fee and no long-term contract. The first fee comes once the setup is live and you've checked it.
The changes to your site and profiles go live during the setup, on a date in the proposal. How long each AI tool takes to pick them up is outside anyone's control, so any timeline we gave you would be made up. That's why we track weekly: you'll see when it starts to move.
No, and be wary of anyone who does. Each tool decides who it names in every answer, and the answer changes with the day and the wording. What we guarantee is the work: the pages and details we update, and the weekly tracking so you see what changed.
Bing now shows how often Copilot cites your site, and Google mixes visits from its AI features into your regular search traffic. ChatGPT and Perplexity don't report anything. So we run the same questions every week and tell you how often you come up, who cites you and in what tone.
Not for Google: it says you don't need AI text files or special markup to appear in its AI features. Other tools haven't confirmed they use it. We add one because it takes little time, but we don't sell it as the fix.
It's your call. OpenAI separates GPTBot, which reads to train its models, from OAI-SearchBot, which reads to answer searches, and Perplexity does the same with its bots. You can block the training bots and keep the search ones. Block the search bots and you can't appear in their answers.
AI search optimization, also called generative engine optimization (GEO), AI SEO or answer engine optimization (AEO), is the work that helps ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot find your business, understand it and cite it accurately. We record what they answer today, fix your website and your details across the web, and ask the same questions again every week.
According to Advanced Web Ranking's CTR study (September 2026, desktop searches), when an AI Overview appears, the first organic result drops from 19.35% to 14.78% of clicks. Being one of the sources the overview cites is part of being found now.
And part of the people who hear about you this way never visit your site: they read the answer, then search your name or text you. Most of what helps here also helps on Google and with customers, so nothing is wasted. The free audit includes what AI tools say about your business today.
Generative engine optimization (GEO), answer engine optimization (AEO), AI SEO and LLM SEO all describe the same job: preparing your business so the systems that write answers (ChatGPT search, Perplexity, Copilot, Gemini, Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode) can find, understand and cite you. There's no secret switch.
The difference from SEO services is what the searcher gets. On Google they see a list of links and pick one; in an AI answer they get a written reply that mentions a few sources, or none. So it matters more that each page answers in its first lines, that your details match off your site and that other sites talk about you. The foundation doesn't change: if your site has no page for a service, no AI tool has anything to pull from.
We start by writing the questions people ask before they hire you: “best wedding photographer in Denver for small weddings”, “how much does an elopement photographer cost in Colorado”, “Denver photographer who does courthouse weddings”. Between 50 and 100, depending on how many things you sell and in how many areas.
We run them in ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, and Perplexity, and save every answer.

accuracy and sentiment
Google is explicit about its side: there are no extra requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, and no special file or schema to add; a page just has to be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet (AI features and your website). Google also says these features may run several related searches to build one answer, which rewards pages that cover a topic's follow-up questions.
ChatGPT searches with OpenAI's OAI-SearchBot, and OpenAI says sites that block it won't be shown in ChatGPT search answers (its crawler docs). Perplexity uses PerplexityBot to surface and link sites in its results (its docs). Copilot runs on Bing, so your site needs to be in Bing too.
What's known to help: a site search engines can find and OpenAI's search crawler can reach, pages that say plainly what you do, where and for whom, and other sites (reviews, directories, local press) that back it up. What isn't known is the exact weight of each piece, because nobody has published it.
For local questions (“photographer near me who does elopements”), answers lean heavily on Google Business Profiles and their reviews, so local SEO matters as much as your site. We walk through it step by step in how to get your business on ChatGPT.
Google counts visits from AI Overviews and AI Mode inside the Search Console Performance report, mixed in with the rest of your web search traffic. Since February 2026, Bing shows how often Copilot cites your site in its AI Performance report. ChatGPT and Perplexity don't offer any report.
That's why we track the same questions every week: it shows whether you come up more, get cited more and whether what's said about you has changed. Answers vary by day and by who's asking, so we show you the trend, not a single snapshot. Visits from chatgpt.com or perplexity.ai are counted in your analytics.
A serious AI SEO agency does things you can check: questions saved before and after, pages rewritten, details fixed on other sites and AI referrals measured in your analytics. What it shouldn't sell you is a magic file, a list of tricks or a promise that ChatGPT will recommend you.
If your site has technical problems that stop Google from reading it, an SEO audit comes before any work for AI. And if you don't have a page for each service yet, we start with your website.
It's a fixed monthly price set in your proposal after the audit, because it depends on your business: how many questions need tracking, how many services and areas you have, and how much needs fixing on your site and across the web. It covers the setup (the starting audit and those fixes) and then the monthly work: new questions answered on your site, mentions and profiles kept current, weekly tracking and the report. No setup fee and no long-term contract; cancel with 30 days' notice.
Your first monthly fee comes once the setup is live and you've checked it. If we also run your SEO, the audit tells you what work the two share and the proposal spells it out. How every quote is put together is on our pricing page.
Your customers' questions run in ChatGPT, Google and Perplexity, with every answer saved: who comes up, who gets cited and what's said about you and your competitors.
