How much does a website cost in Canada?
What Canadian small businesses pay for a website in 2026, from a DIY builder to a custom agency build, with sources; yearly costs, GST/HST, French pages and how to compare quotes.
On a phone with weak signal, every extra second loses visitors. We find what slows your site, fix it and show you the before and after in Google's own tools.
We find what actually slows each page (oversized images, plugins loading on every screen, a slow server, third-party scripts) and fix it in order of impact, testing each change.
You get the before and after from PageSpeed Insights and, once Google has enough visits, from its real-user data in Search Console.
Your important pages show their main content quickly, even on a weak signal.
LCP under 2.5 s as the target
The measurements Google takes from real visitors, fixed where they fail.
Core Web Vitals: LCP, INP and CLS
Every page tested before and after with the same Google tool, so you see the difference yourself.
PageSpeed Insights
Your important pages tested on a phone, with lab tests and real visitor data where Google has it.
What holds back each page, ranked by how much it costs you.
Images, scripts, fonts, caching and hosting fixed as set in your proposal, tested before anything goes live.
The same pages tested again with the same tool, and the before and after sent to you.

1 · What we found
Your home page takes 8 seconds on a phone: a 6 MB header photo, a slider and four plugins loading on every page.
2 · What we'd fix, in order
3 · Fixed quote
Compressing and resizing images, removing or replacing heavy plugins and scripts, caching, cleaning up the database and moving to better hosting if needed. Each change is tested and measured before and after.
Speed work is billed by the hour: web design agencies on Clutch mostly charge US$25-US$49/hour for WordPress, Wix or Shopify work. Ours depends on how the site is built and what's slowing it. After the free check you get a fixed price in your proposal, and you pay once the fixes are live and you've seen the before and after.
It's one of the signals Google uses, through Core Web Vitals, though content and relevance weigh more. The bigger effect is on visitors: a slow page loses them before they read anything, whatever its ranking.
Sometimes it helps, often it doesn't, and stacking several can make things worse. The cause is usually images, a heavy theme or plugins loading everywhere. We fix the cause and keep only what's needed.
Hosting close to your customers usually makes the site faster, and some clients prefer their data stored in Canada. It's not the only factor: a well-built site on a nearby server with a CDN beats a heavy one on any server.
Website speed optimization makes pages load faster, especially on phones: compressing images, removing heavy plugins and scripts, caching, and moving to better hosting if needed. We measure with PageSpeed Insights and Google's real-user data before and after.
Google's Core Web Vitals consider loading good when the main content appears within 2.5 seconds for real visitors (web.dev). A slow site loses visitors before they read a word, and the people you paid ads to bring in leave too.
The free audit includes a speed test of your site on a phone and what's slowing it down.
Canada is big, and plenty of your customers open your site on a highway or in a small town with patchy LTE. A page that loads well on office Wi-Fi in Toronto can crawl there, so we test on a throttled phone connection, which is closer to what those visitors get.
Where the site is hosted matters too: a server far from your customers adds delay to every request. We recommend hosting close to them, with a CDN where it helps, and keep the cookie banner light so it doesn't slow the first screen.
Many small business sites run on WordPress, and their slowness usually has the same three causes. Each one has a fix that doesn't require a new site.
A slider, a form builder or a chat widget can load its code on every page, even where it isn't used. We remove what you don't need and limit the rest to the pages that use it.
Cheap shared hosting can take a long time just to start sending the page. Caching helps; sometimes a better plan is the real fix, and we say so.
server response time
Photos several megabytes each, shown at a fraction of their size. Resizing and modern formats make them a fraction of the weight.
Core Web Vitals are three measurements Google uses to judge page experience: how long the main content takes to appear (LCP), how quickly the page responds when you tap something (INP) and how much the layout jumps while loading (CLS). Google's targets are 2.5 seconds or less for LCP, 200 milliseconds or less for INP and 0.1 or less for CLS (web.dev).
We aim for those targets on your important pages, which matter more than a perfect score on every tool. If speed is only one of several problems, an SEO audit or a website redesign may be the better place to start.
Modern formats, the right size for each screen and images below the fold loaded only when needed.
AVIF and WebP, lazy loading
Unused plugins and scripts removed, and the rest loaded when it's needed.
script cleanup and deferral
Caching set up and, if needed, a hosting recommendation in your name.
CDN and server response time
Content that shifts while loading and buttons that respond late, fixed.
CLS and INP
Measurements for each page, in plain English.
